Oops !

Well, I’ve got myself into a mix-up. I’ve completely lost the thread of where I was before Christmas. The good news, as has been mentioned, is that I’ve had two different apps talking to each other over the Bluetooth LCAP2. The problem is all they’re swapping is gibberish.

So I’ve been designing and testing a kind of new protocol, which would overlay over the top of it. Problem is, it’s not quite there yet and admittedly I’ve got lost. I’ve been redesigning and documenting it today so, hopefully, the code will just need a little tweaking before it starts working.

This is the lowest level of programming I’ve done for quite a while. In these days of reusable modules provided for you, it makes a refreshing change to ‘Hit Metal’.

I have also been looking at what’s needed to write a WAP and WEB site for promotional issues. I think I can put it all into one .NET website which would save on hosting costs. It should be interesting to put all that on the CV.

Ouch

The Bluetooth Protocol has now been changed to LCAP2 and I’m getting faster response times and so on. However the complexity of the task in question is astounding. I’ve written basically my own little protocol to lay on the top but working it through is taking a lot longer than I expected. The RFCOMM protocol was just too slow and this game has to have a fast “ping”.

However, some idiot has just written the worlds first Bluetooth Virus. This means I’ll have to increase the security around the communication and the application itself. It’s probably a fourteen year old Billy-No-Mates working from his bedroom who needs a little taste or real life. Mind you, that comes from a thirty-four year old Billy-No-Mates who is working from his bedroom.
