Serious Coding....

I've started work on the theme code and how to get the graphics stored within a theme to the various objects in the game. This in itself is not too complicated, it's just time consuming. A couple of days will be needed just to get this code under my belt. Then It's a case of unit testing the modules. By the end of this week I'm aiming to see an Interface being generated and then displayed on a Java Frame.

A Miracle !!!

I've been messing about with graphic packages for the last few days and I've pulled my first theme for the game together. I've never done anything remotely artistic before and got it right, and it really has made my day.

In other news, some consultants from India have turned up. Oh Bugger !

One things for sure ...

I am no artist. The graphics I've come up with so far are amateurish and basically crap. I know that great graphics don’t always make a game, but in this world of presentation over content, what I’ve come up with so far will just get laughed at.

Coding continues on the basic design but I’ve started to look at how to port the Java I have written (using the SDK 1.4.1) into the Mobile version.

In other news, I’ve just found out why things at work seem to be easing off. Work has started moving jobs off to India. This has left me feeling insecure at best. I can’t see where I’m going to be able to go to work if all the I.T. jobs go overseas and before people ask, I can see it happening all too easily.

The ‘Bean Counters’ will not care about the long-term cost of rewriting the code when it comes back, which has been the case in the past. They are interested only in short-term gain. If the code comes back as good then there’s more of a problem because there is no way that a western worker, who has costs of raising a family over in the west, can compete with the costs of a worker of a developing country.

They also say that new industries will rise up to replace the old, but this time I can’t see that happening. Very Depressing.

Graphic Additions

Started working on graphics for the demo. I've decided that in order to get the point accross I'm going to produce three different themes, ie different graphics and sounds. A Matrix Style theme, a Tron style theme and a 'Fluffy Bunny' style theme. The idea is to show that this game can appeal to more than just tech heads and cyber kiddies.

The first stage is got get the prototype to generate and display an interface. I'll start looking at the event handling at a later point and frame rates at a later point. Work has died down abit but I'm still having to put in an extra 5 or 6 hours a week just to keep from being overwhelmed.
