Home again Home Again Jiggidy Jig.....

Well all I can say that the California, Nevada and Arizona are fantastic places to visit. Don't think I could hack living in LA unless it was right next to the beach, but everywhere else was fantastic. Even managed to do a little work in Palm springs on the U.I. I've got about ten pages of notes and designs to integrate into the client design Document and the only problem now is getting time to do it.

Tron 2.0 was release last week so I've bought and completed it. It’s a fantastic twist on a FPS and a great place to look at ideas for project k. Not sure about some of the level design but the Light cycles had me twitching like any other.

Unfortunately at work, everybody’s been having problems while I’ve been away. Client ‘J’ ’s new system is not working as efficiently as if could, so I’m going to have to redo half of it in my spare time in order to keep them sweet. Client ‘V’ has had problems ever since the upgrade. Client ‘F’ requires an entire new system in two weeks, which has to be converted over from SQL Server to Oracle 9i.

So it’s late nights and working weekends for the next two to three weeks just to make up for the holiday. Makes me wonder if I’ll be able to hit code at any point in the near future.

Hopefully, the last mad panic for a while....

Well, Client 'J' s new system was setup in correctly and it's only taken them three months to notice, thankfully it just needs it syncronisation setting corrected and that's that. No new work on the game today but I have been going over some .NET coding techniques. Still going to be a long haul before I can confidently put code together.

Well Blogger's been down.

So far I'm preparing for a trip to the states, Holiday if you like. So for most of September, this is going to be a tourist road trip around the states. I'm still working on the menu design for the client, this is taking a while because I'm trying to think it through, as this is going to be the main interface between the game and the User. I've got to get it right otherwise the whole thing falls on it's bum.

Apart from Blogger being down, I had to head up to Newcastle and back again in one day for an old friend's wedding. I know that 300 miles doesn't seem like alot to some poeple, try getting up, driving, goto wedding and reception and then driving back again and see what it does to your body clock. Still It might help with the jet lag ?!?

So Much for shopping.

Yesterday, Client 'V''s Servers packed up whilst reading it's CD-ROM drive. It took until eight at night to sort the problem out. So we didn't even get to the shops. The upside of all this ment that I was able to continue some UML design work while the Server came back up. There's now an Activity Flowchart showing the interaction between Master and Client and althought the Game's Static Structure has been designed, the Server and Client's Operational Claases have not been defined. I was able to work on those a bit yesterday.

I had a look at some of the Java delevopment kits on some of the mobiles out there and they look quite extensive. I'm going to download the Nokia one, just to trial it with JBuilder.

Well, that's blaster gone, but the graphic card is still screwed. According to my friends it looks like some of the memory is failing which would explain the problem of curroption when you up the resolution.

Tried Windows update last night, but I'm still getting an error when trying to get the lates updates. Very frustrating. Going to have to leave it all though because Another Client (let's call them 'V') requires me to go on site today and fix one of their machines, and it's off shopping tonight so no work on the game today......

Double B*ugger !!

Well, another dead end. I'm going to have to remove the Graphics Card, reinstall XP and service pack 1 and the Blaster Patch and then Hope for the best. If it still doesn't work. I'll back up all our data on the machine and wipe it totally.

Here's to another wasted Night !

Oh B*gger

I've repaired my installation with XP and what happens ??? Problem with the Remote Procedure Call on Port 135. It seems that MS Blaster is still Active and I've got to try and sort that one out. At least it's stopping me coding and keeping me at the design stage. I'm beginning to get the feeling that unless I've got the design completely nailed down, I'd get very lost about half way through the coding stage.

I'm going to go over my Machine with Norton at lunchtime and then try and repair my machine, whilst Off-Line and retry the Big Graphics Card Again. It's a case of Fingers Crossed though as
